12+ Months Out!

Select a Date
Once you have selected a month or date that you like, you will need to check with the families to make sure that the people who matter are available to be there.

Set a Budget
Talk to your partner and family to work out how much you can afford.

Determine the Size
Choose the size of wedding you want and stick to it.  It is easy to lose track of how many people you should invite.

Reserve the Wedding Ceremony Venue

Book the Reception
Visit a number of possible reception venues to get a good idea of price and value before confirming one.

Save the Date
Post out save-the-date cards to the most important guests at your wedding.  This is even more important if  your wedding is in holiday season.

9 -12 Months Out!

Choose your Best Man, Chief bridesmaid and rest of your wedding party

Order your wedding dress and outfits for the rest of the bridesmaids etc..

Book Your Entertainment
Choose the type of entertainment you want. How long will they play for?  Do you need a DJ as well as a band?

Select and book your wedding florist

Select and book your photographer

Select and book your videographer if needed

Book a caterer
Sometimes the reception venue does not provide these

Select and book your wedding cake

Confirm your guest list

Create a guest list for the evening only entertainment

Begin looking for honeymoon ideas

6-9 Months Out!

Look for accommodation for guests
If guest are travelling and need overnight accommodation try to work out a rate with a local hotel if not your reception venue.

Select and Book your wedding Cars

Finalise all bookings and make sure that all deposits are paid where required

Choose your wedding rings

Visit your hairdresser to discuss styles and a trial run

Initial wedding dress fitting

Inform banks and other third parties of intent to change name

3-6 Months Out!

Create wedding list with favourite store

Send out wedding invitations with reply card

Check requirements for marriage licence

Confirm readings, music and hymns for the ceremony

Finalise flower arrangements with florist

Confirm menu with caterer or reception venue

6 Weeks Out!

Have final dress fitting for bride and groom and also the wedding attendants

Make appointment for makeup and nails

Finalise the guests
Thank the respondents and chase the people who have not yet confirmed

Speeches should be pencilled out

Plan rehearsal

Apply for marriage license

Confirm honeymoon arrangements

2 Weeks Out!

Supply DJ and band with song list

Confirm formal portraits with the photographer

Collect wedding rings and make sure they fit

Confirm the sitting plan for the reception

Purchase travellers cheques if needed

Give reception venue a timetable

Confirm details and final numbers with all suppliers (reception, limo, caterer)

1 Week Out!

Write any cheques and prepare cash envelopes required for the wedding day

Have rehearsal

Organise your procession

Practice readings

Pack for your honeymoon

The Big Day!

Have a good breakfast

Best to collect Rings

Place someone in charge of giving out the cheques and cash

Enjoy yourself!

After

Ask someone to return any rented items

Send out thank you notes to all suppliers and attendants

Settle any outstanding bills
