Choosing the right music for your wedding is not a decision to take lightly. We catch up with The-Wedding-Disco for his point of view.Q1. How important is the music on a wedding night?
Very, it can make or break a night.
Q2. What is the most requested wedding song?
Every wedding can be different but you will always get asked for one of the following at some point in the night, Steve Earle - Galway Girl or Neil Diamond - Sweet Caroline & time of my life - dirty dancing. Hard to pick one I'm afraid.
Q3. What tips would you give to someone thinking of booking a band or DJ for a wedding? Recommendation is always a good way. People who have had a good time at a wedding are only to glad to shout how good the dj is. OR Make sure you go & listen to the band or Dj play, everyone's taste is different. Having a dj who understands music & people is the answer every time.There are a lot of good djs out there. Most have been going a long time, with lots of experience & knowledge on how to make a good mix of music from across the decades work to your crowd. Also if they have a web site, always read their feedback.
Q4. Is there anything else you would recommend to someone as a form of entertainment?
People today are looking for that something different niche, something to keep the guests happy until the meal. There can be many forms of entertainment to suit every budget. You could have Casino, Roulette wheels and such like or if gambling is not your thing what about a magician, there are many forms of magician which will bring a funny side to the day. Hypnotists- truly spectacular, get the guests talking all night. Or why not try Scalextric. Racing cars set on a big table with all the trees and all the extras, really takes guests minds off, especially when its the only time you can drink & drive.
Q5. It’s not just music you provide?
No I can do a full package which includes;
1.Ceremony Music on its own, or with a female Soloist with a fantastic voice. Music which has been carefully hand picked for each individual service, not just a few classical pieces that might do the job. Trust me, check out my web for an insight.
2.Music during your meal. Carefully selected pieces of music that will put your guests in a calm mood & touch their inner sanctums.
3.Karaoke, Once people have a few drinks, everyone likes to give a song & its not about who is the best singer, its about who is the most entertaining. It is so funny watching people do Sinatra or Patsy Cline.
4. The Disco, speaks for itself.
5. `Picture Memories Montage`of the bride and groom for all to see on the big screen.
6. Photo DVD, where I take pictures all night of the bride and groom & guests while they dance the night away. Otherwise all those memories would be lost forever. This is a very popular service and is booked with nearly every disco I do.
Q6. Any weird experiences or requests?
ha ha funny you should say that. I like the bride & groom to give me an idea of what they like, as well as asking their guests for requests. I would also ask the B&G if there's anything they don't want me to play. One time in the middle of Grease, as all the guests were really getting into their thing, the bride asked me to take it off NOW, as she didn't like it and it should have been in her hate list but forgot to tell me.
